  Five scenes are chosen from an imaginary sci-fi film
  and have been engraved onto vinyl and digital formats
  for this very cinematic release by Scanone.
  The whole EP is a journey in itself covering
  33 mins. From the magical melodies contrasted with
  dark brooding synths of Moon 2 to Scene 7's own narrative
  commencing on an unknown planet, walking amongst
  eroding space debris, distant lights flicker as we approach our
  destination.
  Darklight, delicate and beautiful plucked melodies guide us
  through this scene enhanced with rich, lush pads and ethereal
  voices held together with a mechanical, bionic glitch beats.
  Vox Eight, A beat driven shorter track with an early 90's idm vibe.
  Finishing with Menace 44 with its intricate scientific, macro experiments feel.

  " Scanone is channelling early Aphex and 'Incunabula'-era Autechre on 'Moon 2' from the Scenes EP, in a very good way. This is no retro-fest of backward-looking nostalgia though, he pushes these sonic palettes forwards, into their natural home, not the dance floor - the film soundtrack. 'Scene 7' is a 10 minute ride that begins amongst the streets of Blade Runner and ends high in the atmosphere, floating helplessly away from your last hope of returning home. By the time we hit 'Menace 44' we're floating again but this time it's underwater, slow, sumptuous waves of reverb washing us downwards.

  Really digging this. Classic brain dance, vintage Aphex feel.
  Elevated with sombre interstellar synth work. Impeccably produced
  music that tackles timeless themes in it's own majestic way.
  Scene 7 is my pick - i like the epic drifting nature of it.

  ScanOne bravely leaves the beaten dance floor paths and instead carves the deeper trail through spacious sound-design, emotive melodies and physical, moving rhythms on this landmark release for Yellow Machines.  It harks back to the exploratory and cinematic vibe that I associate with a lot of the early 90s electronic music that I cherish, but purposefully brings a modern skill set and production style to the forefront.
  This is music to get lost in, discovering curious new lifeforms and awe-inspiring landscapes along the way. The Scenes release is a mature, impeccably crafted and inspiring journey I would recommend to anyone in need of a sonic excursion.
